Blog Post 1: What to Expect

Starting today, I will be uploading a new blog entry once every two weeks, or every other Wednesday. That means you can expect a couple of posts a month, give or take the length of the month. So, why every two weeks?

Well for starters this blog is intended to be an additional outlet for my thoughts and ideas but not my main focus, which is writing more books. I think that it is a reasonable pace for me to add new posts.

Secondly, I feel like it’s an attainable goal for me, which is something that I have been struggling with. Burnout is a very real concern for me as I tend to challenge myself when taking on projects; you could say I often bite off more than I can chew.

Combining that with my inability to manage my time reasonably is a recipe for disaster. That means I often create unrealistic deadlines for myself and since they are usually not obtainable; I stress myself out, overworking myself into burnout.

Learning to take more time and be more realistic about what I can accomplish is well, frustrating to put it mildly. However, one of the benefits of less frequent posting is higher quality! With more time to put together a post, it means I can really dig into a topic or story.

So that is what the schedule is looking like it’s going to be moving forward, but what will the blog be about? I am often asked questions about my writing process, or my opinions about art and culture but I haven’t had somewhere to share them.

Starting a blog has been something I have kicked around doing for years, but I always found some excuse to not do it. But, now that I have my own website and a space where I can chronicle my strange thoughts, I suppose I have no more excuses.

You can expect a variety of posts; ranging from updates on my ongoing projects, to a behind-the-scenes look at the peculiar ways I hone my craft, as well as hot-take opinion pieces, favorites lists, homages to the art and artists that have inspired me, and even more stories set in my fictional world.

There’s lots more to talk about, and even more content planned to be added to the website over the coming year and beyond. But for now, I want to keep this announcement from going off the rails, so I will leave it at that. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to share more!
